In another case of “has the world gone batsh*t crazy?” the Rock Am Ring music festival in Germany has been evacuated by police over a “concrete terorrist threat.”
Ninety-thousand people were packed into the site for the first night of the three-day festival when police ordered the evacuation so they could conduct an investigation as a precautionary measure.
Aussie rockers The Living End had their first show of their European tour canned as a result. They were due to play the festival Friday night.
Singer Chris Cheney posted this on Instagram:
Not sure what's happened but there's been a terror threat of some sort so Rock am Ring has been cancelled. We were all setup getting ready to play when the announcement came through. 100,000 people now have to leave and go back to their tents. Luckily nothing has eventuated and we are just hanging at catering waiting to hear what's going on???? What a letdown. 😡
Well I'm bummed that the first show of the tour got pulled but thankfully everyone is safe. Considering what went down in Manchester you never quite know. I feel really bad for all the punters who spend their hard earned money buying tickets to a music festival only to have it cancelled due to the selfish actions of a few narrow minded twats. Imbeciles. #oneplanet
