Meet & Greet

Welcome to Girl at a Rock Show!

This site began as a creative outlet for it’s founder, Jade, but has since become a collective of women (and honorary women) around the globe.

You can also find info about other Girl at a Rock Show services, like publicity, merch and tour support, via the relevant links.

You can meet us individually below:

Jade

writer. photographer. publicist. merch girl. manager. tour mum.

I was The Sex Pistols‘ tiniest fan in the 1980s. Molly Meldrum inspired my music journalism aspirations. I began my own music journalism career in 2001, which is incidentally when I started working backstage at music festivals, and trying my hand at everything except performance and production.
As a girl growing up in regional North Queensland with a ‘disability’ and a passion to work in the music industry, it’s become my mission to create the kinds of opportunities for people that I had to carve out for myself.
I am ridiculously proud of the team I work with, and am stoked to be part of their growth within the industry.
You can find out more about my story here.

Brittany

photographer. writer.

My name is Brittany and I live in Melbourne. You’ll likely see me squeezing into tight spaces and shooting from barrier platforms because I’m a wheelchair user and it’s too fat to fit in a pit! I’m a lover of pop punk and a good hair flick shot. I also appreciate some good eye candy. I used to shoot babies, but now I shoot music instead, and only shoot babies on the side. I’ll do anything for the shot, and refuse to let a wheelchair stop me.

Nikki

photographer. writer. merch assistant.

I am an unashamed supporter of Australian music (think: The Amity Affliction, British India, In Hearts Wake), an avid collector of tattoos and Batman/Jokercomics. I am adept at making cosplays I never really wear because North Queensland doesn’t present a lot of opportunities to wear them, but they make good fodder for Jade to practise her photography skills on so it’s kind of a win-win.

Ava Jane

interviewer. photographer.

10-year old Ava Jane has an old rock ‘n’ roll soul. Though she enjoys a variety of genres spanning multiple decades, she lists The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, and other classic rock artists among her favorites. Her current favorite song is the Johnny Cash cover of “Hurt” by Nine Inch Nails. Her other interests include Minecraft, Roblox, dancing, soccer, and parkour.

Claire

photographer.

Claire is a music photographer who just moved to Melbourne from the ACT. She’s a fierce advocate for the local/independent music community and a lover of any track with a good drum solo (hello floor tom). You’ll find her (camera in hand) at your local show or hitting up the festival circuit this summer!

Paris

photographer.

My brand involves photographing bands, family, fashion and lifestyle using both digital and analog photography techniques, as well as videography. I love to work with prints and plan to expand into the videography genre as well.
I’ve been influenced by the works of Chris Cuffaro, Annie Leibovitz and Sam Brumby. I have shot for Australia bands Lime Cordiale, The Lulu Rae’s, Approachable Members, Heaps Good Friends and more!
I studied at Photographies Studies College in South Melbourne where I completed my Certificate IV in photography and photo imaging!

Emily

photographer.

Based in Cairns FNQ, Emily is an enthusiastic shooter who lives to capture the energy of a moment. Action sports, live music, events & documentary photography are her main game; but anything with a story to tell can capture the attention of her lens.

Rielle

writer.

Rielle is a makeup artist and a burlesque dancer with over six years of performing and entertainment experience under her belt. She has always had a passion for the stage and live entertainment, especially music. A social butterfly and a seasoned working professional in the creative scene in Brisbane, she knows what makes an excellent show, from sound to lighting to stage presence!

We were shortlisted for Australia’s Top 50 Influencer Awards in 2017!
