Lemonheads frontman Evan Dando was denied entry to New Zealand this weekend, with his two shows in the country cancelled.
Dando allegedly missed a flight from Melbourne, where he finished a short Australian tour last week, to Christchurch. When he caught a later flight he was detained by New Zealand authorities.
The tour promoter posted a message online Sunday morning saying, “tonight’s show has been cancelled due to the artist being refused entry to New Zealand at the border. We are not sure of all the details at this stage but regretfully have no choice but to cancel the show”.
Dando was arrested at Sydney airport in the ’90s while high on heroin and tripping on LSD. We’re not sure if that had anything to do with his denial by our friendly neighbours.
