Aussie rock stalwarts MOTOR ACE are back with their first single in almost two decades.
It has been 17 years since Melbourne’s Motor Ace released their third album, Animal, and quietly disappeared from the scene.
Today, the band is back together (well, they officially re-banded in 2018) and have released their brand-new single, ‘Knock Knock’.
One for old school Motor Ace fans, ‘Knock Knock’ sprang from an idea that had actually been written between their 2001 debut full-length Five Star Laundry and the ravenous follow up, 2002’s Shoot This.
But the universe had other plans for this new 2022 earworm, as vocalist Pat “Patch” Robertson explained: “It’s an idea that was kicking around back in the day, but we never got around to finishing it. We’d always loved the sound, but it was written between the first and second records and didn’t really fit with what we were aiming for on the second. Probably should have finished it then!”
The accompanying video offers fans a peek behind the curtain on their Five Star Reunion Tour in 2019, with Melbourne’s Matt Jasper bringing together both backstage and on stage moments for a documentary-style music video.
Motor Ace will be hitting the road for their Five Star Laundry 20th Anniversary Tour mid-year, where fans will not only hear the new single but all of Five Star Laundry in its entirety.
