Former Superheist bassist Si Durrant has rejoined the band, replacing Drew Dedman, who quit earlier this week following a disagreement over drummer Benny Clark.
In an exclusive given to themusic.com.au, the remaining band members addressed the split for the first time, saying Clark’s sacking was due to his unwillingness to fulfil band obligations.
“Clark’s sacking from Superheist led to Dedman’s shock decision to leave the band, ending his five-and-a-half-year tenure with the project,” DW Norton and Ezekiel Ox said in a statement given to the web site.
“The band thanks him for his service to Superheist over the years.”
Norton and Ox announced that Durrant would rejoin the band in time for their upcoming shows in Toowoomba, the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. Durrant was bassist for the band in the 1990s, prior to Dedman taking over.
The band will also be joined by guitarist Keir Gotcher (Insolence, Snot) and keyboardist Andy Sorenson, both of whom toured with them on the recent Don’t Call It A Comeback shows.
A new drummer is set to be announced in the near future.
