Green Day’s award-winning Broadway musical American Idiot makes its Australian premiere, exclusive to Brisbane from 23 February 2017.
The cast has just been announced, featuring The Living End’s Chris Cheney as St Jimmy from February 23-26 and Grinspoon’s Phil Jamieson taking over the role from February 28.
Winner of two Tony Awards and the 2010 Grammy Award winner for Best Musical Show Album, American Idiot is the story of three boyhood friends, each searching for meaning in a post 9/11 world.
The show features the music of Green Day with the lyrics of its lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong and book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer.
Featuring an all-Australian cast, including Ben Bennett, Kurt Phelan and Ashleigh Barlow, the show includes every song from Green Day’s album American Idiot, as well as several songs from follow-up release, 21st Century Breakdown.
