A member of Queensland’s police force has resigned from her position after allegedly being caught with drugs at Stereosonic music festival at the weekend.
The 26-year old constable received a notice to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court in January for possessing dangerous drugs, allegedly at the Brisbane festival, although a police spokesperson refused to confirm the allegation.
She has since resigned from her position in North Queensland, which means she will avoid a Queensland Police disciplinary investigation.
Six people have died at music festivals in Australia in the past 12 months, including a 25-year old woman at Stereosonic in Sydney, and a 19-year old man at Stereosonic in Adelaide.
Countless others have been hospitalised.
There are now calls for random drug testing to be carried out at all music festivals.
