ARIA Awards: The 2022 Nominations are here

Lewis Capaldi and Natalie Imbruglia will host the 2022 ARIA Awards next month, with the Australian music industry and international guests gathering IRL for the first time since 2019.

“I am beyond excited to be returning home to Australia to co-host this year’s ARIA Awards,” Imbruglia said. “This November marks the 25th anniversary of my first album, Left Of The Middle, so it will be a celebration for me in many ways. It will be a fun night with Lewis Capaldi as my co-host and honouring all the incredible Australian artists this year. Cannot wait to see you there on 24 November.”

Capaldi added: “Buzzing to be coming back over to Australia for the first time since 2020! Such an honour to be asked to co-host the ARIA Awards with the incredible Natalie Imbruglia! I’m pinning every single one of my hopes on winning an award as well because it’s very, very unlikely after hosting it I’m ever going to be invited back again, perhaps even into the country. Can’t wait to see you all soon!”

Leading the nominees is Grammy-winning RÜFÜS DU SOL with seven award nominations for their fourth album Surrender, including Album of the Year, Best Group, Best Pop Release, Best Dance/Electronic Release, Best Video presented by YouTube, Song of the Year presented by YouTube and Producer – Best Produced Album presented by Neumann.

Melbourne punk rockers Amyl & The Sniffers have secured six noms this year, including Album of the Year, Best Group, Best Rock Album, Best Australian Live Act presented by Heaps Normal, Producer – Best Produced Album presented by Neumann (with Dan Luscombe), and Best Video presented by YouTube (with John Angus Stewart).

Flume has already secured 12 ARIA Awards, but this year has received six nominations this year for Best Solo Artist, Best Dance/Electronic Release, Producer – Best Produced Album presented by Neumann, Best Pop Release, Best Video presented by YouTube (with Michael Hili), and Song of The Year presented by YouTube.

Baker Boy, The Kid LAROI and Vance Joy have each secured five nominations, and Sydney-born singer songwriter Julia Jacklin has also scored four nominations alongside King Stingray and Luude.

ARIA CEO Annabelle Heard said this year’s awards are about celebrating the best of what the industry is, has been, and can be in the future.

“It is exciting that this year’s nominees again reflect a diverse, representative, and inclusive playing field for Aussie music – something we are committed to championing for years to come as we help more Australians connect with more local music,” she said. “Congratulations to all the incredible artists recognised in this year’s nominations, and to everyone who has played a role in helping shape Aussie music over 2022. Your commitment, passion, talent and creativity is second to none. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of you live and, finally, in person this November in Sydney.”

Held at the Hordern Pavilion on November 24th, the winners will be announced live on Channel 9 from 7.30pm.
