Live Gallery: Fresh Violet + Butterfingers, Townsville

words + photos: Nikki May

I recently had the honour of working with Girl At A Rock Show doing merch for the Butterfingers – Breakfast at Fatboys 15th Anniversary tour in Townsville and Airlie Beach.

Opening for Butterfingers was the little spitfire hip-hop artist Fresh Violet. As someone who is into the heavier genres of music, I didn’t know what to expect from the Melbournite but holy hell was I blown away. Opening with Adrenaline Rush from her EP Ackbars she instantly grabs your attention and holds you captive during tunes like Left Right and Ask Vizzy (from her debut album 50 Shades of Violet). This girl is a little pocket rocket on stage with her high kicks and ninja-like moves. Her merch is off the charts too with a cute t-shirt, cap and purple vinyl on offer. You can check out her store here.

The crowds in both Townsville and Airlie Beach had a great vibe. As soon as Butterfingers came on stage everyone rushed the barrier while singing and dancing along to the boys playing all the tracks off Breakfast at Fatboys. It’s always an amazing sight to see a large crowd singing word for word with Evil Eddie. Butterfingers kept up the high pace energy all night with Evil Eddie diving into the crowd and getting carried away by punters. Best seller of the night was their Breakfast at Fatboys caps, FIGJAM coolers and the ever popular Chicken’s Not A Vegetable shirt. Also, to celebrate Record Store Day Eddie dropped a new vinyl, Welcome To Flavour Country which is only limited to 300 presses so make sure you get in quick here.

And now for some photos!
