Barnesy Is Back

JB-Jimmy-Books

It’s no secret Jimmy Barnes is a legendary muso, but he’s also now a best-selling author – and he’s combining those two things on his next massive national tour.

It’s been around three decades since the iconic pub singalong Working Class Man was released. He’s just completed a memoir of the same name, the sequel to his number one nonfiction Working Class Boy, and will be taking this one on tour around the country for three months next year, with a mix of spoken word and musical performances.

“The new ‘Working Class Man’ live show and book – again both written by Jimmy – begin in 1974 as he leaves Adelaide in the back of an old bread truck with a then unknown rock group called Cold Chisel. They trace the legendary band’s long climb to the top and their subsequent implosion. The story then picks up as Jimmy carves out a new solo career for himself. He becomes the country’s biggest rock star before drugs and alcohol bring him to his knees and he eventually rebuilds his life thanks to the love of his wife and his family. It’s a spellbinding and searingly honest reflection on success, fame and addiction.”

Tickets for the tour will go on sale the same day as Working Class Man hits bookstores: Monday 23rd October (mailing list subscribers will have exclusive early access).

To celebrate the new book, Barnesy is also releasing a limited edition, commemorative version of one of the greatest Aussie rock albums of all time, For The Working Class Man. The deluxe double-disc LP is packed with newly remastered tracks and never-before-released live recordings, and will go on sale next Friday, 20th October.
