Queenslander Glen Barrie, guitarist for hardcore band As Paradise Falls, has unexpectedly passed away in his sleep, according to reports.
He was 26 years old.
The band had been in Thailand recording their debut album at Karma Sound Studios, and were scheduled to perform in Bangkok last night with Melbourne band I Killed The Prom Queen.
The news was confirmed on Facebook this morning by management company Mannequin Republic, who wrote:
“Words cannot describe how heavy our hearts are upon learning of Glen’s passing… Our thoughts and condolences go out to Glen’s family and in particular his amazing wife Cass. RIP Glen.”
Barrie’s wife Cass also made a public Facebook post, with a photo of their unborn baby, stating:
“On Monday night I received news that I never thought I would have to receive.
My soul mate, my best friend and the most amazing man in the world was sadly taken away from us.
He went to bed and just never woke up.
Glen was in Thailand with his band living the dream!
They were recording at a prestigious studio and having an amazing time.
He rang me every single day and was so happy and excited to be fulfilling one of his dreams and every day he also told me of how he wanted to come home to be with me and his soon to be born baby boy!
I can’t even begin to understand why this has happened and I know we will never but Glen has left behind the most precious gift of all and that is his son.
Glen will forever be with us and will be loving us from the stage in the clouds!

The couple were married in February this year.
A Go Fund Me page has been established to help provide financial support for Cassandra and the couple’s baby, raising almost $15,000 overnight.
