Not since Coal Chamber‘s Mikal ‘Bug’ Cox’s valiant efforts after breaking fingers at the start of Soundwave 2012 have we seen anything like this.
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl reportedly fell off stage while performing Monkey Wrench – the second song of the Fooies’ set in Gothenburg, Sweden – and broke his leg, but returned to the stage to finish the set… albeit seated.
YouTuber Makkaka Kugelsnibb uploaded a video of the aftermath, in which Grohl addresses the crowd:
“Hey ladies and gentlemen… Now look – I think I just broke my leg… I think I really broke my leg… So look, you have my promise right now that the Foo Fighters, we’re gonna come back and finish the show but right now… Ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you, now I’m gonna go to hospital, I’m gonna fix my leg, but then I’m gonna come back and we’re gonna play for you again!”
True to his word, Grohl returned to the stage after receiving treatment backstage while drummer Taylor Hawkins took over vocal duties singing cover songs. What a stand-up guy!
We’re guessing Grohl went to hospital after the show – there’s no official word yet on his condition. Check out the video below:
