There’s been a massive lead up to the release of Montage of Heck, the first ‘official’ Kurt Cobain documentary.
A lot of previously unseen/unheard of material has been released, including this – Cobain’s cover of the Beatles classic, And I Love Her.
Paul McCartney wrote the song in 1964, so it’s somewhat surprising that Cobain chose to cover the track, because as Rolling Stone pointed out, he reportedly once claimed to love the Beatles but hate McCartney. It’s also a little extra air time for McCartney, who recently had a ‘career boost’ with Kanye West and Rihanna collabs.
The mag quoted the doco’s director, Brett Morgen, as saying, “Nobody in Kurt’s life – not his manager, wife, bandmates – had ever heard his Beatles thing… I found it on a random tape. It’s a Paul song. How’s that for shattering the myth.”
Montage of Heck will now actually show in Townsville – at Event Cinemas – along with select cinemas around the country for one week only starting May 7. (For a complete list of participating cinemas, click here.)
