The Internet Giveth, Instead of Taketh Away

It’s a heartwarming end to a story of cyberbullying.

Last month, a user on 4chan posted a couple of images of a “portly gentleman” that was having a fucking blast dancing at a club… till he realised someone was watching… and laughing… and taking photos of him.

Under the caption, “Spotted this specimen trying to dance the other week. He stopped when he saw us laughing,” the user successfully publicly humiliated “Dancing Man” – and made him an internet celebrity.
LA-based activist and writer Cassandra Fairbanks from The Free Thought Project came across the photos and quickly launched a social media campaign to find the Dancing Man.

“Our entire group was horrified seeing the cruelty represented in the post, and seeing as this amazing group has done so many beautiful and charitable things in the past, I decided to throw out an offer to pay for his flight here if we could find him and throw him a party,” Fairbanks wrote on The Free Thought Project, under the pseudonym Cassandra Rules.

A GoFundMe page was created to help raise funds for the dance party, and over $35,000 has been raised – almost double the original $20,000 target. Any funds left over from the party will be donated to anti-bullying charities.

Dancing Man – real name Sean – was tracked down in the UK, and has accepted the offer to party with 2,000 hot girls and a bunch of celebs in LA, including Moby, Pharrell Williams, Dita Von Teese, Ellie Goulding and Este Haim of HAIM, who have all tweeted their support of Dancing Man.

Take that, internet bullies.
