They already look the part, and one of their songs has already appeared on a GoT mixtape, so it’s little surprise American rockers Mastodon joined the cast of Game of Thrones this week.
Band members Bran Dailor, Bill Kelliher and Brent Hinds appeared as Wildlings on episode eight of season five of the hugely successful series, joining Jon Snow’s epic campaign against the White Walkers, later turning into White Walkers themselves which, ironically, was the name of the original track they created for the series.
Said Dailor of the experience:
It was such an incredible experience to be on set as extras for our collective favourite show Game of Thrones and to be Wildlings murdered and then brought back to life by White Walkers was beyond amazing. I watched my best friends Brant and Bill, murdered right before me as I myself was stabbed in the stomach and had my throat slit multiple times, and I didn’t mind at all. It made me love being in Mastodon even more. We are more than privileged and honoured to have been a part of one of the greatest stories ever told on film, and the catering wasn’t bad either.
GoT executive producer, Dan Weiss has made no secret of the fact he’s a fan of the band. We just wonder who else in the world of rock n roll would make perfect GoT cameos?
